Given that this programme is aired at 1:45 Mon - Fri, and that some of its storylines have involved, for example, overt homosexuality, both male and female, is it the kind of viewing which should be broadcast at this time?

Today's storyline involved a guy who was a transvestite, or as his uncannily understanding wife referred to it whilst trying to calm their seemingly traumatised 20ish year old daughter looking at her dad dressed in female clothing complete with wig and make up, that her husband/man in a dress/daughter's father "suffers from a condition called gender dysphoria". Try explaining that to an over curious 5 or 6 year old, sitting there asking mummy or daddy what "gender dysphoria" is???

will your son learn to treat his wife badly by openly cheating on her because he can?
Some people Joe...some people. You seem to have different friends to most of us. If any of my friends were homophobic I don't think they would feel the need to hide it from us. Respect that we are not...but not hide it.

Jack....as would most good decent parents I would think....I understand it's not what a parent wants to hear but for it to change how you feel about your own child...well, I just can't find words to express it.

I think my biggest fear would be...errrr...selfish. I want Grand children...that's about it.
Somehow I get the idea that joeluke learned his views 'at his fathers knee'...........

Who was it who said "Those who don't learn from history are condemned to repeat it" ?
^ that's complete b0ll0cks
Most of the time the terrestrial channels stick to the watershed guidlines,[ there
has even been suggestions that it might be moved to 10pm].What I want to know
is does this include sky, cable, etc because I've seen stuff on sky that I wouldn't
want my grandchilden to see. I think some of the onus should lie with the tv
channels as some parents [not all] seem to let their children do as they please.
Put this into a sentence............

nerve..........touched...........did.........
a...........it..........?
I was referring to your 13:08 post actually jack
well from what I have read I would bet money that his son will leave home as soon as its humanly possible.
Does your son live with you Joe?
Yes, why?
Just wondered.....

Lot's of children don't live with their fathers.
My other 2 don't

I'm not a "Mary Whitehouse", as one poster dubbed me - not at all. I have enough skeletons in my cupboard to prove that. My most pertinent point is the timing of the show, given the adult content which it regularly contains. If people wish to comment, please don't misconstrue my thread, try actually reading everything I've said instead of jumping to the totally wrong conclusion.

However, it seems that those who share my views are way in the minority on this thread, and that the vast majority of liberal thinkers would be quite happy to explain the likes of anal sex, what lesbianism physically involves, drug dealing/taking, transvestisism/cross dressing to their kids? Because, although some of that little lot may not literally be shown in "Doctors", it is what is being advocated by the programme makers.

So, how many of you liberal thinkers would be comfortable explaining the "nitty gritty" of that little lot to your impressionable children? I look forward to some interesting answers.
Joe I am far from naive I just associate myself with people who are nice/genuine/non-homophobic/non-bigoted and open minded because that is who I am.

You can have your views but I do not have to agree with them and I don't. Far from it actually.

As I have said before I even disowned my own father for his stupid racist homophobic views, I would never associate or tolerate anyone like this is my social circle again. Your views disgust me. But you are entitled to them.
Older or younger Joe?
OrcadianOil, what a bizarre statement. I would no more tell a five year old about anal sex than I would about the technicalities or oral sex, foreplay, climax or any other aspect of any kind of sex.
I don't believe for one minute this programme described the intimacies of sex and in any case Doctor's and other adult day time programmes would not hold the attention of a young child.
What would you do if you saw your neighbours kissing in their back garden? Would you react differently if it were a homosexual couple?
If
homophobia noun
a fear or dislike of homosexuals

homophobic adjective

What is the word for fear of being Normal ?
you know orcadian oil, I see those scenarios on almost all shows these days, I expect its to sensationalise and to increase viewing audience. whether its the jeremy kyle show, the bill, eastenders, coronation street, the news at one o clock or a hard hitting documentary on channel 4, my only advice is to switch over and not let it bother you.

when my children were young any tv was either cbeebies or a dvd, they did not have an interest in soaps or news. Naturally as they grow older they will become more aware of the world around them as good or bad as it is..

hc4361,
You have done precisely what I described in the first paragraph of my 14:20 post.

To everyone I'd say this: None of you know me, and vice versa, or else you most certainly would not be making some of the crass, judgemental comments about me which you have. No one has even gone about trying to address what I said in paras 2 or 3 of my last post, either. Instead of just digging at me, try to see beyond such prejudices and discuss the relevant topics of the thread - that is, if you wish to make any meaningful contribution?
