The Men Who Stare At Goats - Jon Ronson.

The Men who Stare at Sheep - A. Berdonian

'The Coma'  by Alex Garland.

'Father Frank' by Paul Burke - a very entertaining yarn.

Fugitives and Refugees: A Walk Through Portland, Oregon - Chuck Palahniuk.

Both!!! His books are great! Got me reading again!!

At the time when "Lasher" (Anne Rice) came out, I was ENTHRALLED and wished the story would never end.
The American Boy by Andrew Taylor. Can't say it was inspirational but it was very enjoyable and well written. A historical "whodunnit?" (the American Boy in question is Edgar Allen Poe) and reminiscent of Wilkie Collins.

"The Anatomy of Fascism" by Robert Paxton

It was neither "life-inspiring" nor "an entertaining yarn" but it was intellectual and educational.

Life inspiring

"Sook my ****", by Ron Jeremy

If you want inspiring, read 'Endurance' by Alfred Lansing about Shackleton's voyage to the Antarctic.

Let's see...

Fight Club by Chuck Palaniuk, and just about anything written by him, if you want to be uncomfortable, as he tells the truth about things. The stories are intense and fast paced.

If your a religious person, i suggest Frank E. Peretti's This Present Darkness, and Piercing the Darkness

The Abhorsen Trilogy Garth Nix, is also a fantastic fantasy trilogy.

If you would like to read about human cruelty i also suggest Robert Cormier's The Chocolate War, and Beyond the Chocolate War.

The list could go on and on but im tired as of now.
