Morning, my 2.5 yr old grand-daughter has just become toilet trained, she will do a wee on the Loo but she poo's in her knickers, we had to take her to A and E yesterday as she held onto her poo for too long as the last one she did split her little botty and made it so sore to go, her tummy began to distend and she was in a great deal of pain, they have given her a fibre drink to put into her normal juice and she managed to go 3 times when we got home which made her feel a little better, but still the problem is how do we get her to poo on the Loo so she dosn't hold onto it, she has watched mummy go ( sorry lol ) so she knows you are meant to do it down the toilet but she just wont. Any suggestions please? Thank you

Not a big deal. Tamirra.......as other good peeps have said, she'll cotton on soon and you dont see many 4 year old +'s pooing in their knickers.......tell your daughter to be patient and keep encouraging her daughter to try and go in the toilet...maybe start by reading her a favourite book while she goes, to get her settled......matter of time before she does......really :0)........Good luck xx
My daughter was like this and used to poo in her pants too. It's lovely isn't it, especially when you are out for the day at a park! Not! I did get cross at first but then just used to clean her up and ignore the fact that she had done wrong. After quite a few weeks once she told me she needed a poo, this was when we were both unloading shopping out of the car and too busy to take her to the toilet (which we usually did with no success!) I said go on then off you go and to my surprise she did. Of course we made such a huge fuss of her she never pooed in her pants again.
What I am saying is sometimes the more fuss you make the worse it gets. I would continue to clean her up and say nothing. As she sounds a clever girl she will do it eventually and she is very young. Just keep on gently mentioning how you poo in the toilet without going OTT. Its a phase which will hopefully pass very soon. Good luck.

Sorry Eddie forgot to say that all the forms for DLA and Incapacity have been sent off, just got to wait and see now, but i will let you know as soon as we have had a reply. xx
Don't be offended Tamirra, I was starting to get a bit worried about you thats all I used to know a woman whose daughter had a serious illness and she used to run around trying to make everything right....she spent ages in the library researching...looking for cures etc (we didn't have Google then) and she got really wrapped up in something relatively minor... If I remember it was her grandson becoming a really picky eater....and she became very focussed on that to the point everyone got very snappy with each other and the relationship with her daughter suffered for a while ... She admitted later she felt so swamped with worrying about how she could make her daughters life a little bit better she tried too hard with the little one... it had become a sort of distraction but in the end she started to get ill herself.... lots of infections and headaches etc.... she'd just worn herself out... The mums and dads on here all seem to say the same thing...your grand daughter will be ok given a bit more time... just hope you are looking after yourself...

I wasn't offened in anyway Rowan just curious as to what you meant, thats all, and yes i do feel guilty at the disease my daughter has as i gave birth to her, and in my mind i gave it to her, i do search on Google a lot of the time i have spare to hopefully come across a cure, but i know for sure there isnt going to be one on Google or anywhere else, so i've just to to make her as comfortable as i can when she is ill. Thank you anyway.xx
Take care pet... and I repeat the very best thing you can do is look after yourself...

Thank you, but my daughter/son and grandkids will always come before me im affraid. Thanks tho xx
hi,

i'm having the same bother with my 2 year old. but not as extreme as your having.

she's doing one every 1 or 2 days and does seem to be holding it in but theres a huge build up to it and she'll cry till she does it. she only poos' in her nappy though

she is out of nappies the whole day and doesn't need one when having her nap. i just put one on at times when i think she's needing her poo.

she's great with peeing and not had accidents for a few weeks now but just cant get her to poo on the toilet. she'll sit on the toilet and say poo but wont do it.

the HV said maybe we should put her back in nappies but the reason i started potty training her was she was pulling her nappies off and i'd find her naked wanting to pee so really had no choice. and i thnk now that we've stared i don't want to stop and confuse her since she is doing so well with peeing.

i'll need to keep an eye on this thread to see how you get on and look for tips
