Yes it's at the South Terminal with through trains every hour in the week

Train - Southampton to/from Gatwick Airport

On every day but Sundays there are hourly direct trains between Gatwick Airport and Southampton. On Sundays a change of train is required often at Clapham Junction. The train station at Gatwick is part of the South Terminal. There are very frequent free transfers between North Terminal and South Terminal.

Yes, there is an entrance to the railway station direct from the south terminal airport concourse. If you are flying into north terminal, there is a regular shuttle bus between the two at the moment (the little train is out of action at present).
