Hello
I am going for my assessment to day to potentially be a prison guard at the end of January and am really looking to find someone who has attended this day before!! I'm worrier at he best of times and as I come from Brighton I'm quite concerned about getting to Kent for 8am! I do drive but am even un-sure if the place is easy to find, whether ornot you can park there etc - all 'extra' worries that I oculd do without! As for the day itself, has anyone got any tips/advice for me? Anything would be usefull please.
Thankyou in advance - I truly hope someone can help me!

if you're that worried about your time keeping, book into a B&B the night before.

Sorry.....it should say 'I'm going for my assessment day' - and it's prison officer not guard!!

Yes I looked into booking a travelodge but am not sure yet - I'm just not a mega-confident driver so anthing out of my comfort zone is a pain!
I would have thought this is a job which would require some confidence. maybe now is a good time to test yourself..

I am confident - just not at driving whch is what is making me extra concerned - so no need for an assertiveness course - I do fine in my current job thanks! I am not one for taking any nonsense don't you worry - and that's really not what my original question was asking!
1) buy yourself a sat-nav (cheap ones are under 100 quid nowadays)
2) ring up the interview place and ASK if there is any parking
3) get a hotel then a taxi

Most organisations asking you to go for interview or assessment will send you details a couple of weeks beforehand, telling you where it is and providing a map. You can get from Brighton direct to Ashford Kent on the train across Romney Marsh quite easily but it might not run as early as you want, and it depends too where the assessment is taking place, is it actually at one of the Kent prisons or at an assessment centre? Bednobs' answer to you sounds sensible - travel the day before and stay over to be sure of getting there on time.
Anyone going for the assessment day on the 4th March?
