After aquiring the car at the end of march, the car has started intermittingly misfiring. For a week it would be fine then it would start misfiring, whilst bellowing out lots of smoke, you should see the looks i get off pedestrians. An ex mechanic in work said its worth changing the spark plugs, so im going to opt to do that, does anyone know how many sparks it will have? is it 4 or 6? and is it worth changing the leads and the feul pump whilst im at it?

those symptoms can happen if the head is cracked as well, check the oil for water and the water for oil, just to be on the safe side
Think it will be fairly safe to say it has 4 spark plugs!

Though in all fairness, if you need to ask how many spark plugs your car has I doubt you should be attempting to work on it yourself.
lol chuck ;)

its not going to be me changing them, the ex mechanic will be as he still does odd jobs on his days off, but he said for me to buy the parts before hand, i cant get into the engine bay to see how many it has. not long checked oil and seemed fine.
It hasn't got leads.
It has a coil pack like this which connects directly onto the spark plugs instead.

You could ask your mechanic friend if the symptoms could be related to the coil pack.
