I know it should be in Travel, but what the heck ,this is the best place. I'm off to stop near Lindisfarne in a couple of days for a week. Has anyone been to the Farne Islands? I've googled it and it sounds great. Any personal experiences?

hope it's not too rough on the water Bobbi, mrs L gets sick on the teacup roundabout!!
No it's fine, be careful not to get caught out with those tides tho'
A wonderful area islowry, We used to stop at a little village called Lowick, about 10miles South of Berwick with some friends who had the Black Bull Pub,dont know what it's like now as Tom and Ann have moved on but it was a great pub with a fantastic reputation for food. If you like Kippers drop into Craister and try them straight from the smokehouse and Rick Stein did a special from the pub there. Plus lots of things to do and places to see like Bamborrough Castle, Alnwick, Berwick I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself

Try Linhope Spout right at the end of Ingram valley:

If you meet anyone whose surname is Shell, tell them I said hello...
Question Author
looks great Mark, just the type of places i like to go to. Best not to ask at a garage if they know anyone named Shell.
Trust me, mention the name Shell anywhere in the Beamish valley and everyone will know who you mean: http://en.wikipedia.o...andon,_Northumberland
Or, if history is of interest, you could visit Hadrian's wall or the ramparts at Berwick - both are utterly fascinating for totally different reasons...
Question Author
I've been Hadrians Wall and went to Berwick, the area in between looks just the type of place, especially as we're NT members. Loads of castles by the sea!! Great for walking.
Well, if castles are your thing, I'd suggest these two:
