I'm compiling a spreadsheet in which I need to enter a mobile number beginning 07875..... I can type the number in the selected cell, but when I move to another cell, the "0" disappeares leaving the number as 7875.....
How can I stop Excel deleting the 0?

Thanks.

Instead of typing
07875
type
'07875
Type an apostrophe (') at the beginning of the number. That tells Excel to treat anything which follows as plain text and not to try to interpret it as a number or a date or a formula or whatever...
I have the same problem so would be interested if there is a solution. I have got round this by typing the capital letter O instead of the zero. It does it on landline numbers too. It may be a formatting matter but I can't get it to stop doing this at the moment.

Boxtops, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem!
Why not change the Cell to "text" format rather than "number" format

Text leaves it exactly as it is.
Yes, just shows there are many ways to skin a cat (or is it rabbit)
