Thank you everyone who advised me about my avatar. I had followed all of the instructions but, frustratingly, it took several days to arrive. As you can see it has now appeared. I think the problem may have been that I was using it for 2 email addresses (including the one for AB) but the one for AB was not the primary one on Gravatar. I have now made it primary and here I am!!! No one else suggested this could be a problem but, in case this did solve it - rather than just waiting - it might be worth passing on. Alternatively I may have clocked up enough questions by asking where it was!!
PS uploading the apple turnover messed with my disc drive.

Ours came up straight away, and also attached itself to every question and answer in our history.
