We've all seeing the lying adverts where one squirt of the product, one wipe with a cloth and an immaculate oven/hob emerges from beneath the blackened and baked-on cooking debris.
But what do people find really works? Our last oven and separate hob were a disgrace when we ditched them and I am determined to keep the new ones in pristine condition, but it still needs a good cleaner to help, so any suggestions gratefully received!
Try Oven Pride, recommended to me by a friend and its excellent. you can get it in supermarkets, its on roll back in asda at the moment, think its about £2.60.
Agree about Oven Pride. I also use it on the glass oven door.
A good purchase is the oven liners from Lakeland. I think they are about a tenner each (cut to size). I use one on the base of my oven and it saves so much cleaning if anything spills. Just lift it out and wash it. Fab!!
Another vote for oven pride. Even the blackest shelves come up like new after soaking in the bag overnight. You can also put it on the glass door and base.
Oven pride is good if you are already in a mess - but it is incredibly strong be careful even the tiniest splash can cause disaster on floors etc. I use a solution of washing soda and if the bottom of the oven is a bit baked on I soak a tea towel in a strong solution of washing soda and lay it in the oven overnight. Works a treat and not too corrosive. PLus a big bag of it only costs a pound and you can use it for loads of other things as well.
Astonish works for me.
You can get it in the Poundland shops. I have only used a very small amount and it comes up gleaming. Be careful to read if it is suitable for you surface. It cleans glass cookware as well.
I would recommend Astonish. A brilliant product thats also kind to skin. Wilkinsons sell it as well as other outlets. I use it for so many things as its so versatile. Only £1 or less for a big tub that lasts for ages
Thanks folks, i'll give these a go. It just goes to prove that the bigger the advertising budget, the more cr@p the product, "Bang and the dirt remains!"
I've used Oven Pride too and was very pleased with the results. Easy to use, but as another poster said, you have to be careful not to splash/spill any on your surfaces.
Having read the recommendation about oven liners, I'll give them a go.
