Hi all

Im going to have a bit of a change in the living room and am looking for a nice colour for the walls. I currently have a mottled brown carpet which is a year old so I wont be replacing that. The carpet has a medium to short pile and has slight colour variations of light to dark brown. The walls are currently covered with Dulux nude glow but I want something a little different. Ive got to fill some of the holes and sort the walls out etc but I just dont know what colour to paint them. I have beech furniture in there, sandy coloured curtains and a black leather sofa. Any ideas?

A pale lilac would look nice if it's a south or south-west facing room. If it's north or east facing you might prefer a warmer colour such as a nice gold.
You can brighten brown with a mellow yellow or rusty orange or combine with green for a more earthy look. The beech furniture would look ok with that. Teal would enliven.

Tan, taupe, beige and cream make excellent backgrounds, helping to make accompanying colours appear richer.
you could go for a new line of black and white like this one
