Over here in Belgium they are lvoting today on whether or not to ban the burka. The French have also indicated they are keen too. Fines of 110 for first time and Jail for subsequent offences.

Given the labour parties desire to covet all things from Belguim coupled with its desire to slur everyone who would suggest such things a racist in this country and of course the views 'unite wimin' Hariat Harperson just what are they going to do ? Labour must be in total turmoil !!!

Good afternoon. The Belgian and the French are right to ban the burqa, the women who wear burqa walk around anonymous to everyone, quite sinister I think. Lord knows what is underneath them.

However, I can't imagine this namby pamby P.C government doing anything to upset our country cousins. All the more reason to expect a few thousand more here when the next container ship docks.

I wish you would put a Burqa on your avatar. :0)
Why can't the law just say that the ban is for everyone to say that the face must be visible, particularly in shops etc.? We already ask bike riders to take off their helmets so their faces can be seen, likewise balaclavas etc. In winter you can often only see people's eyes because of great woolly scarves and bobble hats. It's being taken that the ban is being aimed particularly at the burka-wearers but there are not that many who go round dressed from head to foot in black or blue (not compared to the rest of the population, anyway. The other end of this spectrum is that the sun has come out and there is no law against displaying ghastly buntops and fat stomachs in public, which I think is far more offensive in some ways.
PS as to what is under the burkha or indeed under hijab - certainly women I have met have the most up to date moden leggings, dresses etc, under their outer coverings. They wear normal clothes indoors, it's only outside that they cover up.
I think in general there should be more rules over what we can and can't do. I want a government that passes more laws to dictate how we should live.
A prurient thought, if a young woman is wearing a burka might she be wearing sexy undies under it? Or would they be considered decadent too?
No sandy, she can. There are excellent very attractive underwear shops in Middle Eastern countries.
