Broken Exercise Bike? Any ideas?

Hi all. Can anyone come up with any suggestions as to what has happened to my exercise bike? When I was using it earlier on a medium level resistance, it suddenly felt like the tension went. I waited a few seconds, tried again, and it seemed fine...then 5-10 seconds later it went again. It's hard to explain, but it doesn't lose resistance altogether - it just 'goes' for a couple of spins, then is fine for a few seconds, and so on.

I took the casing off the bike, and I can't see anything that looks wrong or broken. The rubber band is still fine and in place. It has magnetic resistance, but doesn't look like it could be a problem with that?

Does anyone have any ideas whatsoever what this could be?

Thank you!

I thought that they were for hanging clothing on..... maybe that is why I am still fat.

It will be that gizmo, widget thingy. The gasket, or something.

I used one daily for about 2 years - helped me lose 9 stone. But have to admit the last 6 months or so mine's been more of a clothes horse too! Decided last week it was time to get back into the habit of using it...but now my bum has got used to it again, it's gone and broken!
9 stone is a huge amount of weight to lose - congratulations. I could do with losing just over that amount. I lost about 3 stone once - but I found it again.

Best of luck with keeping the weight off.

well done squidgster for losing all that, youve done so well, have you got much more to lose?
can i ask how long you bike for each day?
i keep trying to do a few steps on my stepper to lose some weight but i just cant get into it.
i hope you get your bike sorted now youre in the swing again.

Hiya, and thank you both.

Loooby - I don't really have much to lose now. I got down to about 10st 3lb and have kept it off reasonably well by just keeping more active. But have slackened off a bit and put on around half a stone, so just trying to lose it and get fitter again. I got into the habit of doing 17.5km a day, varying the resistance. Took/takes just under 30 minutes. It's hard to get into the habit, but once I was in it it just became part of my everyday routine and I felt better each day for it.

I have a feeling I'll be investing in a new bike now, but I think I've had my money's worth with the last one.
thats excellent squidge!! very very well done, you must be looking and feeling great!!
have you heard/tried those exercise things called kettle bells? theyre meant to be very good for weight loss and toning up?
i really must try and do more than my 2 minutes a day on my stepper! lol, oh and maybe if i put this easter egg away too that im busy munching on as i type, might help! ... ;o/

Thanks loooby. I do feel a million times better generally. It hasn't been without it's drawbacks mind you, but feeling fitter and healthier is great.

Haven't seen those kettle bells before - i may look into getting something like that for helping with toning up.
