iTunes, how does it work?

Okay, I accept this is probably a dumb question.

However, before I start to download iTunes and try to watch TV programs, I'd like to hear from someone who is already using the software and how they rate it. And is there any hidden outlay of additional money likely to be required.

Please keep in mind I don't spend a great deal of time on my PC. But, as I am finding it almost impossible to watch scheduled TV programmes, and I am thoroughly fed-up with watching endless repeats that are repeated every few days, I thought this might allow me to burn a DVD and watch it on my TV.

For years I put-up with Cable-Tel, NTL, and eventually switched, in disgust, to FREEVIEW. I find I still am pretty much fed-up with the majority of TV programmes

Will be grateful for any advice

Thank you for your response RoaldoM

Sounds like I should at least give it a try and see how things turn out.

My reluctance was due to so many scams and false claims being issued by all sorts of websites, I have become almost paranoid and treat everything new as 'suspect'.
