I am trying to find a ghost story about Cliff

I am trying to find a ghost story about a man called Cliff. As I remember, Cliff and his wife moved into an old house. Cliff then began to be haunted by a former resident (a woman) and then he died. I read this story in a collection of about six ghost stories, in a book published between 1992 and 1996. I cannot remember the name of this book. I am not sure if the same author wrote all the stories, or if there were various authors. Please help.

Sounds a bit like Wuthering Heights (except his name was Heathcliff) :)
