I have 2 children and like everyone else get more child benefit for the eldest child. When the child benefit stops for my eldest (age 16) will I then get the higher rate for my second child or will it remain the same. Hope you understand the question. Thanks in advance.

if your child leaves school at 16 and goes on to further full time education ie collage you are entitled to carry on receiving child benifit for that child till he becomes 18 solong as he is at collage or other form of full time education if not then child benifit will stop for that child and you will get the higher rate for the next eldest child
Whatever happens it stops at 19 not 18 my daughter is 19 and still gets child benefit till september when she goes to university when the higher payment will pass to my second daughter.
