I didn't do a 'proper' starter, just a few canapes and nibbles with a glass or three of champagne, then as
We're having lamb tomorrow as we have more guests coming, but today we have roast rib of Aberdeen angus beef, crispy Yorkshire puddings, golden crispy roast potatoes and parsnips, baby new potatoes, chantenay carrots, steamed broccoli, fine green beans, rich beefy gravy -

Exotic boozy fruit flan with whipped cream, creme caramel or Blackforest Gateau for pud

got some fine engish cheeses and some freshly made oatcakes

Irish coffee - or ordinary coffee

Fine vintage port, cognac, liqueurs

Now, for supper can I get away with some cold cuts, salads, a couple of quiches and some warm buttered rolls? - Or shall I do a hot supper dish?

I DO have a fabulous kitchen, I have an American style double front opening fridge, and in the garage a walk-in fridge, and four chest deep freezers .( I also have a normal sized fridge just for beer and wine in there too!) I have a six gas jet burner hob, with an indoor BBQ grill rack and Wok ring, a double cooks oven, I also have industrial combi steamer/electric oven, a small microwave oven and two Halogen cookers (briliant little things!) A double deep fat fryer and a salamander grill. Along one 10 ft marble work top i have a food processor, a blender, a hand-held elecric whisk (that gadget i love, it'll whip ice cold skimmed milk to the consitancy of double cream in 20 seconds!) and a large ice cream maker and my juicer, coffee maker and kettle. I have a nice 'butchers block' on wheels and two sets of cooks knives, one Swiss, (Sabatier) and the other Japanese. And last but not least, a lovely kitchen table that seats twelve. My pots and pans hang from an old fashoined dryer on butchers hooks along with bunches of herbs etc, typical 'farmhouse' kitchen style.
Merciasounds, from reading your post in this forum and you having all those professional commercialised type appliances and kitchen accessories, you must be a professional chef or food critique, or some foodie-type personality, and must be a darn good hostess too! lol How I wishes that you were my neighbour. :-)
fabulous menu.....will gladly send you my guests and they'll gladly gobble yours - we'll both be happy ;)
