In a recent news item it was stated that the British government "donates several hundred millions of pounds a year in aid to India" and went on to say that if the Tories were elected they would not change it..
My question is " If so much is given to India is there any way of finding out what is the overall total we donate to the rest of the world"

Ashamed to call yourself British Northern Mokey?

Fair enough I think many of us who think children dying of malnutrition and disease in other countries deserve a bit of a hand from us

Well we probably are ashamed to call you British too!
Let me rephrase this Jake
It's saddening of course knowing the current situation in some countries such as dying children/adults due to malnutrition BUT at the same time we have got the soldiers currently on the front line - risking there life every single minute of every single day - and anything that is able to help them or in some way offer them better protection then it should not be questioned - Any thing possible ££ after ensuring things that matter have been covered then yeah no problem - give to india ect
I am even more annoyed that we give overseas aid now I see, via a posting above, that India is the 10th highest spender on their military.

And before anyone else says that I do not care about children dying, I do care, more, it seems, than Indian millionaires care.

If these countries to which we send aid got their priorities right first and there were still starving and needy people in their country then I would gladly agree to my tax pounds giving a helping hand.
