Yes I saw that, it looks a bit sparse, I wondered what the ambience was like !
I should think that anything that brings the actors/play closer to the audience would create a great ambience?
I've been a few times - saw a brilliant production of Kander & Ebb's The Rink, and then a new musical called (I think) Wild Women. It's a superb space - very intimate and adaptable. The first show was completely in the round (perfect for roller-skaters whizzing round the rink) and the second had audience on two sides (sort of). Couldn't recommend the theatre iteslf more - but obviously it's all down to the show you're seeing.
