euro sign on keyboard

How do I get the euro sign to come up?
It is along side 4 and below right of $.on the keyboard
I have fiddled with Ctrl and Alt but no joy.

Another way is the alt gr key (to the right of the space bar) + 4. alt gr is the same as control + alt.
