This sounds absolutely disgusting but the best way to get rid of them is to cut them out with a sterilised scalpel or similar sharp blade. Because its all dead skin it wont bleed unless you go too deep but you need to make sure you get it all out or it'll grow again. This has always worked for mine. If you're squeamish, a trip to the chiropodist will do the trick
It sounds that if it has always worked for you then you have had more than one case. I'm informed by a medical friend that if you just leave them they will go in a few weeks and you will never be troubled by them again. Get rid of them by any artificial method and they will return.
I once tried the 5029 remedy on a wart. It bled like a pig! I did get rid of the wart though, and touchwood, I've never had one since (30 years ago) :-)
They dont go away on their own, they are inverted warts, and as with warts they must be remouved or they'll stay for life - look at Lemmy from Motorhead!
Lick them with the saliver of a cammel and then cut half off with a knife recently used to eat cottage pie and the other half with a knife that has been used to eat a kiwi friut.
They do go on their own - I had one that I left, it went, I've never had another.
I did the same as xyzzy, had a wart on the side of my thumb, cut it off really deep with a razor blade. Thought i was gonna bleed to death for a while (jk) after it had saturated the third plaster in fifteen minutes, but it stopped after a while and healed over without leaving any scar. It's never come back, and despite the bloodloss i'd do exactly the same again if i ever got another wart. Well, except perhaps if it were on my face. I think i'd get a professional to tackle that one.

Thanks all, have also heard that the inside of a banana skin taped to verucca will make it disappear! Something to do with the enzymes?
