I let my house out a couple of years ago, the tennants where fine, paid up didn't trash the place all very lovely. The problem is that their car is still regstered at my address and I get congestion charge notices addressed to them at my address, I also get things like tax disc renewals etc. So clearly they haven't notified DVLA of an address change. I always send them back with "Not known at this address etc etc". I have also written to both these agencies but they are as much use a a chocolate fireguard. I'm worried that at some point some bailiffs are going to show up. I have also written to the Motor insurance Database, they are insured, asking them if they can inform their insurer as the details they hold are wrong, you guessed it Data protection act yada yada yada. So any ideas how I can this sorted? What are DVLA's procedures in this situation?

Its the registered owner of the vehicle they would be chasing not the address, any debt collecting agency would do a search on the address to confirm who the occupants/owners are.

OK well I hope you are right Chas!
I wrote to the dvla having had a similar problem, down to previous occupants of my address. They marked the car down as 'no current keeper' and gave it me in writing for my records.

Recontact DVLA and you should be fine.
Not known at this address etc etc won't work with Baliffs because all the guilty ones try that aswell anyway
You might get visit from Baliffs -so keep handy any letters you have sent and also recent proof of ID such as bills and tenancy agreement
I have had police come to my address over unpaid speeding fines and baliffs over unpaid council tax from previous tenants- but both matters took just a minute to sort both out and i was not troubled again :)
