It's mainly used in diet drinks I think. It's really bad for the liver.
You would have to consume huge quantities for it to be a hazard to your health, and it is easily avoided. Don't use artificial sweeteners such as Candarel and Nutrasweet, don't eat sugar free sweets, chewing gum or low calorie ready made puddings, don't drink diet pops.
Read the label.
Full fat is the way forward :-)
I also had to put my kids on an aspertame free diet when they both suffered badly from childhood asthma.Theres another one but I cant spell it so shall come back with it.
Natural, unprocessed food is the only way to go.
Drisgirl - saccharine?
Sure...but a glass of coke is nice. Full fat coke as the diet stuff is rank.
Have you seen what coke does to your lavatory pan? That's all it's fit for.
Its phenylananine -which has a link with aspartame.I used E for additives as my bible and it worked wonders with my 2 kids.Boots the Chemist are a good source of those particular free products especially for children -but nothing beats fresh of course altho not always pracical.

They are fine now they are older.
Yep....and if I lived on the stuff I would worry. Everything in moderation....
