Problems with 2 channel television recorder

We have one of those digiboxes with a built in recording function. We should be able to either a) record simultaneously on both channels or b) record on one channel whilst watching the other. It's been working fine but now, every time I set it up to watch one thing whilst recording another I get a message that tells me that I can't watch the channel I was planning to watch because it's needed for recording and that both channels are being used. I've been right through the instruction book, I've been into all the menu options but I can't for the life of me work out what's happening.
Any technical people out there who might be able to help, please? Many thanks

I have had the same problem recently and I found that my unit was showing a duplicate recording reservation for the same program at the same time - usually where I had a series link. I found that by deleting the original recording and then putting in the new recording and resetting the original recording, the unit accepted both recording reservations. After having this problem for a couple of weeks, it left as quickly as it appeared and everything works normally now. I hope this helps.
