Can anyone tell me what is the best way to cook a Gammon Steak Grill or Fry

Depends whether it is dry cured or not. Dry cured will fry very successfully, otherwise grill it or you will just get a pan full of 'snot'!

Excuse me for being THICK but how can i tell the difference i just went to the butchers and asked for a Gammon Steak.
If it doesn't state that it's dry cured then it's not.

It was not wrapped or anything it was cut straight off the joint.

Easiest way is to bake it. Wrap in foil, put in middle of oven at gas 6 for 30 mins. This makes it retain juices.

That's the way i bought it "tonyted" thick and juicy.
And Thanks "lucca" i think i will try that way how did you know i've got a Gas cooker

madmaggot,you will not put me off my gammon so I am sorry yuou cannot have my delish gammon steak that my hubby is cooking for me as a late(very)tea.Just so you all have rumbly tumms,I am having it fried,with egg and thick chips.Yum
