I do, seriously, recall somewhere I heard that animal saliva contains very high amounts of chemicals to help blood clotting so allowing an animal ( do seem to recall it mentioned cats rather than dogs) to lick an open wound was not seen as a bad thing.

Must admit I have never tried it myself though <SHUDDER @ THOUGHT>

lol, or david soap warm water and dettol, surely the recession is'nt that bad!
I always thought dogs saliva helped heal wounds but only their own wounds.
