I dont read regularly as I just dont always have the time. I prefer to pick a book up and read it intensely for a few days until finished - so usually when I'm on holiday.

Have recently read 'Fractured' by Karin Slaughter
and No Time For Goodbye by Linwood somebody

My fave author is James Herbert.....

So I quite like those dark - murder - crime kind of novels

Can anyone recommend any good ones? I have some Amazon vouchers to spend and would like to treat myself.....

(along with any really good movie DVD's you may have seen too!!!! Recommend away!!!)

I was just going to add Mo Hayder too, for The Treatment - a truly frightening crime thriller, excellent book.

Want to Play? by PJ Tracy is a really good, unusual crime thriller. Still a crime thriller but just that added dimension to make it special.
Ever read "the name of the rose" by Umburto Eco?
Christopher Brookmyre's "Attack of the Unsinkable Rubber Ducks" was my best ever holiday read. It's a combination of crime drama, mystery, paranormal thriller and political satire. After a false start when I failed to get into it, I had another go on a long weekend away and got utterly hooked. It's gripping, intelligent and wickedly funny. (Be warned, it contains some very strong language, but generally only for comic emphasis.)

And the best DVD I've seen this year is "Moon". Bleak, but intriguing and quite moving.
