My christmas cactus which is just beginning to show flower buds, has two reddish "growths" on the end of the leaves. If these had followed the flowers, I would have said that they were seed pods or even fruit. Any idea what they are?

Incidently, if you want more of them just take off a leaf and push it into the edge of the pot when they have finished flowering.
