This is in people & places too but just in case - anyone any suggestions on how to get round a work filter so I can get onto chatterbank, apart from using a proxy site (they're banned too)?  Thanks.

Find out the IP address of your internet router / firewall.  Then enter this into your TCP/IP settings as the default gateway.  then bypass any proxy settings you have within internet explorer.  (This is presuming they use some sort of software on a proxy / isa server to block sites)
Further to that you may need to give your computer a static ip if not configured already.  You will also need to know the ip address of any dns / wins servers you have at work and maybe even the ip address of your isp's dns servers, depending upon the configuration of your dhcp server / router.

I'm ashamed to say that doesn't really make any sense at all to me - I'm clearly not technologically minded enough to do this.
When in work, do some work.
When at home in your own time, look at AB??

Man, I'm crap at these quizzes.
We had this problem when I studied Computing Science and we wanted to play Age of Empires, but the department banned it. So we installed a proxy on the machine of the Head of School and ran it through there. He never did find out...

All right stevie as you felt the need to comment...I don't have the internet at home. I work in a relatively low paid arts job and can't afford a phone line in my flat let alone an internet connection.  My job is quite seasonal so at this time of year we have long periods of not having anything much to do which is where a harmless site like AB comes in.  Thanks for your input!
