Yes, we stayed in a family room once.
It had a double bed, a single and a single sofa bed. You could have got a travel cot in there as well.
A bit cramped but perfectly ok if you just need an overnight stay.
..I think it's just the same as a normal room by the way, but with more beds
Perfectly acceptable for a night's stay - there is adequate room for everyone. You need to request your cot when you book, the double / single / sofabed combination is standard.
I think it depends where you go - we stayed in one in Edinburgh last week and the family room was bigger than the ground floor of our house! We had a double a double sofa bed and could have held a dance in the rest of the room.
we stayed in one in scotland once and had a double bed, sofa bed n had to use our travel cot. not the nicest experience but it was literally a stopgap on a long journey and we were all sick so although it wasnt nicest was a godsend for us that one night!
We stayed in one at East Midlands airport and had the sofabed and travel cot arrangement. Dont think they are over happy about doing it - they siad it was to do with fire regualtions but, with a bit of moaning they did
we stay in travelodges loads and we are a family of 4 .the room size is adequate for a night or 2
