I'm planning a halloween party for the kids in my road (think under 10 yrs old) and wondered, aside from bob apple, what sort of activities people put on? We'll be trick or treating first, then back to the ranch for pumpkin soup etc.

Kids like treasure hunts. Maybe find pictures or things that are halloween themed and hide them around the house. Rather than each one finding things make two teams so they can work together....and no one person ends up with nothing! Give clues during the game as to where an object is or make clue sheets.

One other thing is for two teams to make up a short halloween play and act it out for the other. Kids have good imaginations!

*Whoooooooo!* Sorry, that was my ghost impression!

*HA HA HA HA HA!* That was my witch-type cackle!

I like it - thank you! We have a huge attic with three rooms and cupboards in the hall. I'm getting some major ideas here. Won't even have to dust as that will add to the spookiness. Except the parents might shout at me ha ha or should that be HA HA HA HAAAAAA?
Flourcastle
Fill a bowl with flour and "upend" it onto a chopping board. Remove the bowl, you'll now have a mould of the bowl in flour, sort of like a sandcastle, but made of flour! A flourcastle. Now place a £1 / 50p piece on top of the flourcastle in the middle. Kids take turns with a knife to cut away portions of the flour without disturbing the coin. Loser is the one who dislodges the coin! Or even better, just as the last person is leaning in to cut a sliver from the flourcastle, push their face into the flour! BAHAHAHAHA!
Well, I'm 24 and I still love Halloween games! I'm of the opinion that the messier they are the better!

One of my favourites is filling two dishwashing bowls full of flour and to mix some of the long snake sweets in the flour. Two people then have their arms tied behind their back and must pick out the most snakes in a limited about of time with only their mouths. It gets very messy so I'd suggest putting something down to protect the floor.

Another great one is to hang ring donughts with string from the ceiling (or attic beam) - again with their arms tied behind their backs the object of the game is to eat the donught the quickest, again, very messy!

Have fun!
Jenga is a good party game.

I'd be too scared to do the flour snake game as some of them are only four and may end up breathing in the flour! One of the girls in work has come up with all sorts of disgusting 'feely' games involving jelly and uncooked rice, custard with grapes, etc. The kids then have to dig in and find coins or whatever. Basically, get filthy and win things mwahh haaah haa
Similar to pin the tail on the donkey. Put the arm on the skeleton / witch on the broom . Loads of Halloween cut outs in the shop, just take something off & let them put it back on, nearest wins. May be use blue tack instead of pins?
Off to make some Halloween biscuits! Hope your party goes well! x

That's a fabulous idea Sachs - thank you!
1. get two cereal boxes and cut the tabs off, place it on the floor.
two children then compete to pick up the box in their mouths. they're not allowed to use their hands at all and their knees or hands aren't allowed to touch the floor.
when they manage that cut an inch off the top of each box. continue until one person is the winner as they are the only one to be able to pick up the box without their hands and knees touching the floor/box.
2. tie a pencil to a piece of string.
tie the other end to a peg.
have an empty bottle standing on the floor
peg the peg to the back of a child's clothes
they then have to get the pencil into the bottle without using their hands.
