got new sat dish with freeview channels. in the last while the picture has been breaking up into squares of block colour and the sound coming out is like a squeeky bird. lol then eventually "no signal" appears on the screen. seems to only happen when it rains, although it happened earlier today when it wasnt raining. why does this happen? should this happen??? surely the sat dishes are weather proof!??

far from it - heavy rain can disrupt the signal in exactly the way you describe. for now though, reboot your box.
You will not receive Freeview via your Satellite Dish, as it is a Terrestrial Signal. What you get from Sky is Free to Air Channels.
If your Sky signal is breaking up constantly then there is possibly something wrong i.e Water may have got into LNB or cabling. During adverse weather some signal break up is likely, but this should not occur under normal circumstances. The Dish installation needs checking out.
I had the same problem. If you have a cordless phone nearby, turn it off or move it into another room and the problem stops.
