I just got an email from "[email protected]" saying that my email address had been used to send huge amounts of spam, there was an attatchment named "reg.log.exe" which they wanted me to look at and confirm and they said if Iignored my request they'd cancel my membership.
Server.net isn't my isp and I never open unsolicited .exe files, so I copied the file and scaned it with AVG [which had just been updated]. Nothing appeared amiss. I decided to look at the file, and when I did nothing happened and the file dissapeared from windows explorer.
Can anybody shed light on this.
I'm a bit worried that it might be a new virus and it's still lurking on my harddrive somewhere.
Thanks

Jimbo

Thanks chris-n-vick,
I suspected as much but thought AVG would detect it.
Am going to Trend Micro now for a health check.
Thanks again

I've had two copies of that email in the last hour, and Mailwasher flagged them as possible virii. I deleted them on the server. Removes the risk of infection altogether.
