Peugeot 206, car boot lock seems to have broken and the boot wont close at all, if I leave it unsecured overnight my insurance will be null and void, anything I can do please????

How does my car lock with the alarm/imobiliser if this door is open? seems strange. Was in the garage for a fault last week, could they have broken it and de-alarmed the thing so the car would lock with the key??

Many thanks, v.worried.

Have a look into the latch mechanism. It probably rotates to grab onto the pin that sticks up, and may be in the closed position.

See if you can push it to the open position with a screwdriver, so that you can close the lid.

Hi panic (panic is what Im doin lol) I will give that a try, thanks a lot.

The pin was already in the open position but I noticed that the bit it latches onto was moving, it had slipped lower into the boot, have tightened it enough in the dark to let the boot lock, but will have to do it securely in the morning when I can see better.

Thanks for your help x
Any time you need a good panic, I can be pressed into service

And how would the insurers know? LOL

They investigate these things if the car is found, I know Im right.

Would you leave your car parked up overnight with one of the doors open expect to be reimbursed if it got nicked?
