Not been on here for a while so I hope you've all been behaving lol!

My niece was on my PC before, on her farmville in facebook when she tried to expand the screen my PC crashed (we waited a while to see if it would sort itself out ) but eventually had to turn it off at the socket (and I don't have a surge protector, I no I should of had one :-(.....) When I turned the PC back on a few minutes later, this message appeared....

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the origional Setup CD-ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

The PC was fine before all this with no problems, I no she didn't touch anything else as she's only 8 so I was sat next to her helping her!

I don't want to put the origional discs in before I get all the info because all my pics and vids are on it

Thankyou any help greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Running the original disks should simply repair the corrupted file. You should not lose existing files unless your opt for a full clean installation.
