Dear All,

As always please place all site concerns and feedback in reply to this. I hope you have noticed some improvements recently.

Q&Pers should consider this: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Answerbank-Suggestions/Question808666.html and leave some feedback. Shawnee is making a point which could change the shape of AnswerBank. Ideally we would like a different "Question Form" for quizzes which gives extra fields for users to fill in, making it easier for our database to search and users to find their quiz. This is not quite for today though!

G.NOME was playing up over the weekend, so some may have been caught in a bit of the cross-fire. Let us know and we'll be able to refine the G.NOME targeting system even further.

The kettle is on and I'll get the biscuits out in a mo.

All the best,

Spare Ed

Easy You Block ME! {:)
It's the first time I have not bothered being on Ab over a weekend in Yonks and it was because of the garbage, it was just so repetitive and all about stuff from ages ago, can you post a list of the user names you have zapped please so that we can understand what was genuine and what was same old same old?
Question Author
I don think that would be on Dot. What is the different between genuine and "sam old, same old"?

I think "same old, same old" is quite a genuine reason to be banned.

All the best,

Spare Ed
Yes true, and maybe 'genuine' was the wrong word to use, I've looked back over the weekend and forgotten the user names that were being consistently grandly and purely stupid , were they all the same people or were their newbies getting mixed up in it? It's not hard to spot the usual suspects I suppose, but the removal of the 'green' coding makes it harder than it should be.
gnome needs to spend less time partying and more time doing its job

Now how is gnome gonna catch anything, when he hasn't even got his rod?

Dear Dot,

It was mainly those you would expect. There were a few unknown elements, but only in limited numbers.

Hi wee ed,
In edit profile, marital status you only get the choice of : married, single, divorced, separated, widowed, I am not married, but not single, or others, so we need a bidie-in status as well

cheers

We will pop it on the list Steg!

hi Ed , just to echo dot, I did not bother too much at the weekend, I am not looking to rain on peoples parades on CB but I am fed up with logging in to read the continual saga (it has become a saga) regarding "ownership" of the site, constant references to banned people and constant bilge postings about who is who and argument starting threads.

not only that the site was very very slow for me and a lot of pages would not even show up. I have nothing against any user on CB if they stick to not regurgitating a continual argument at every opportunity, if they want to play nice then fair enough, but the site has become bogged down with an unwanted "troll removal service"
Yes cazzz, that's my issue too, as soon as you read the word 'troll' you know it's all become a fantasy playground for some bored looney. Interesting now to try to work out who has actually gone, if you can be bothered.
Question Author
What would make you feel like normal, sensible people like yourself own the site? We will be offering everyone the chance to publish articles on here (we're having some trouble with it at the moment) which will be noticeable from your profile, hopefully it will allow those of you with big brains a chance to have it written in stone!

What else might make you feel more like it is your site?

All the best,

Spare Ed
I dont think anyone wants it to be their site Ed, I think the continual posts by people like babyape/armydude/norway, make the site off putting to genuine lurkers, let alone registered users who feel that if they reply on a thread they will get abuse.

however that happens ie) regular moderating..I feel something needs to be done as more and more users have left and there is a lack of newbies who are probably put off when they click onto chatterbank and read the contents of the first page, in particular at the weekends
Question Author
Dear Cazz,

I only mean that people are more invested in a site they can invest in, this is why The AnswerBank is great most of the time - it is fueled by the users!

We should have increased moderation over the weekends thanks to the Big Ed (who should be with you on the weekends now) and G.NOME of course.

So simply the site being clear would help you feel like it belonged to the sane people?

All the best,

Spare Ed
Dear AB ED,
It would be interesting to know who reported the 3 answers that I gave, that have been removed, one in the last few days and indeed what was the reason or to which questions.
I don't remember being abusive.
I can see nothing wrong with the new layout and I've been able to get right back through all the weekend (mainly) rubbish to page 16 just looking for Great Fun Quiz, Sommor to Winn, and Colossus Puzzles, so that's a big improvement.
Please could you explain what 'stupid' means under the report options?
