Mouthwash can cause some health issues?

I feintly remember reading years ago that mouthwash can change your Glycemic Index or metabolism or other potential health issues.

Is what I'm remebering anything approaching the truth, or am I remembering it all wrong?

If you over use it there was an Australian report that it leads to increased incidence of oral cancer, but this has been dismissed

My eldest son uses Listerine daily and he has been told by his dentist to stop as it is eroding the lining of his cheeks.
