What's the best way to get to Brighton from Newcastle?

Travelling for the last weekend in Oct, i saw trains with duration of between 5-6hrs.

Alternatively, which airport is closest to Brighton?

Thanks!

If you fly to Gatwick you can get a train from the airport there to Brighton. It takes about 30 minutes.
The nearest airport to Brighton is Gatwick. The only airline operating from Newcastle is FlyBe:

Trains run directly from the airport to Brighton, with about 5 trains per hour. The journey takes just 28 minutes on the fastest services (usually 2 trains per hour), with other trains taking slightly longer.
