Old Work Laptop

I have an old work laptop from a previous company that I worked with. I'd had it so long that it became redundant (out of warranty & an out of date model). Being that IT had already carried out the replacement models and I was using a desktop computer at work, they wrote off the laptop and I was allowed to keep it.

It's been sitting on top of my wardrobe gathering dust ever since!!

I am now hoping to use the laptop with one of those mobile internet dongles. However, the laptop requires my login details which I can't remember, plus it'll be set up with restrictions as pre-set by my old employer.

Is there any way to remove these restrictions or set it up so that I have administrator rights?

Thanks in advance.

If there's nothing you need on the laptop and if you have the license key stuck somewhere on the laptop you could just format the disk and reinstall the operating system, using your license key. Or you may have a recovery partition which you could boot into and restore to factory settings
