Hi all
I went to give blood last week, but after having a blood test, I was told my blood count was too low.
My haemoglobin level was 105 and the acceptance level is 125.. now to me that doesnt sound too bad.. but there is no indication of scale..!!
Does anyone know what this means.. should I just be eating more chocolate(!) or should I see a doc?
Thanks x

If there was any great worry they would have told you to go to your gp.

If you're worried then go just to put your mind at rest.

I recieved a letter today saying that I should see my GP, and referal letter to my doc from them, but just wondered if this was a blanket letter for all faliures!!
Im not really worried, as not excesivly tired.. but do have two kids, so always on edge of exhustion!!!!!
Dont want to waste docs time for nothing..
No don't think so as I can't give blood but when I went to donate they just told me I couldn't. I didn't receive a letter.
I heard on the radio that they have changed the requirements for donating blood.

I've got a couple of boys too but my levels are fine - go to put your mind at rest.

Yes, your right.,. iv been thinking of my diet and I actually eat loads of red meat (and choc!) and greens and vit C and so on and so on.. so will pay him a visit!
Thanks again x
10.5g/cc is a bit low, but no big deal.

As you say that you fell healthy and your periods are not heavy, then there is nothing to worry about.

See your GP in about 3months time for a repeat Hb.
