We're going to the USA, we're taking the cooler bag and cooler packs that go into the freezer. Will the cooler packs be alright if packed in the suitcase going into the hold?? Or will they explode/split/leak?? Many thanks

you will have to put them n the hold as you aren't allowed gel/liquids over 100mls in the cabin
sorry to differ, we take about 4 over 100mls cooler packs on board in hand luggage because hubby is a diabetic on insulin and there are no fridges on board to put insulin in for the journey[ so they say] and we travel a lot but take a GP's letter but havent had to produce as yet.
If going in your suitcase wrap each cooler pack seperately is see through zipper sandwich bag, that way the xray machine can see what it is and if any leakages it wont spoil your clothes.
Unless you need the cooler bag and packs on the plane, why bother? Such items are dirt cheap in US and ice is readily available at hotels. Just buy a cheap cooler when you get there are use ice to keep stuff cool.
