I have a VW Jetta 1.9SE TDI PD DSG 2007 (57) which was serviced by main dealer yesterday.

I am lead to believe that if you hold down the trip reset button and turn the key to position 2, it is supposed to show how long is left until the next service is needed. I did this when I got home and it says 'Service Now!' on the display.

Does anyone know how I can reset this? I know I could drive back to the dealer but if I could press a button or something and save myself a 30-mile round trip that would be my preferred option!

Any advice gratefully received, thank you

best thing to do is log onto ebay and purchase a service light reset , they are 99p and it tells you how to do it. On my a3 i had to hold 1 button with ignition on, pull other button then hold the 1st button in again then it reset. for 99p its worth doing it as it gets rid of the light.

Hi Neil

Thanks, I do not have a service warning on the dash permanently, just that when you press the combination to check when it is due I was expecting it to say 20,000 miles / 730 days (longlife service) but it said 'Service Now!'

Is there no button combination to reset it?
Hi oldham fan,I'm not sure how to display next service due message, it should be in your handbook. But pressing the trip reset button as you are doing is the first step to resetting the service now message, when showing service now you turn the clock set button clockwise until dashes appear and voila, service message is reset to appropiate setting.
i dont think you can , my vectra did the same thing it went back to vauxhalls

Hi, thanks all for your answers. After much digging, I have had the answer confirmed.

The procedure I outlined in the question, where it says 'Service Now' is not to display the service interval but to reset it. When I had that on the display, I thought it was telling me it needed one now, but it is in fact telling you to service the car as you have just reset the indicator.

Holding the trip reset for 2 secs with the ign. off shows how many miles or days you have left.

Thanks all for your help.
