i had a accident on saturday,hitting a car up the rear,totally my fault,and i realise my insurance company will have to pay for the other cars damage,no damage hardly to my car,i am fully comp with 8 yrs NCB,i have my NCB protected,my question is, do i lose any NCB or will my premium go up next renewal date,will not be claiming for any damage to my car as its very minimal.

there will be a claim against you so your premium is very likely to increase.

Even with protected NC you will be paying more as the initial premium, before your % discount will be higher even if you still get the same discount.

your policy will state how many claims you can have before you lose your protected claims discount.
NCB is reinsurance, so what is happening is your main insurer will claim off the reinsurance company for the difference in the premium that is now applicable as you have lost some of the NCB, so on paper you would be paying the same + or - whatever change the renewal premium would have been but here's the killer, you now have an accident down to you so they'll weight it for that so as redcrx says you will pay more. Depends on he company but they now have you down as "unlucky", ie had one accident therefore more likely to have another.

after checking my policy,it says im allowed 1 accident before any premium rise,per year,so thats good.but i expect i will pay more on renewal.
