We are going on a Baltic cruise in a few weeks.

We are looking to avoid the overpriced tours sold by the cruise company, so does anyone have experience of how easy it is to get from the port to the town, how long it might take and/or cost at the follwoing places:

Copenhagen, Stockholm (from Nynashamm), Helsinki, Tallinn and Oslo.

Here is a link for information to and from Helsinki city centre and the Port of Helsinki.

Here is a map of the city of Tallinn showing both the port and the old town and square.

Last year I went with my parents on an excellent Danube cruise with the Arosa line. At some ports of call we booked an organised excursion, in other places we went off on our own. While the excursions weren't cheap, some were well worth the money. But what I particularly appreciated is that they held "port briefings" for those wishing to explore independently, and we got a lot of useful information from these. You may want to enquire whether this kind of thing is offered on your particular cruise.
