Hello all,

I was hoping to get some advice.

I have just returned from the doctors who I finally plucked up the courage to discuss my weight with. it is something that has plagued me for years. My BMI is 31, I weight just over 14 stone, this has crept up over the past few years. IN the last year i have massively upped my exercise doing pilates and box fit 3 times a week and walking where ever I can. I have kept a true food diary and after going through this with the doctor and discussing the other method s I have tried she feels that after getting tasted for thyroid etc problems if it is not one of these, then she will prescribe me one of theise weight loss pill.

I know many will just say that it is only a good diet and exercise that will do it, but I am doing these things, I love vegetables and do not eat much rubbish at all. I know drink has added to my weight but I have cut back almost completely but still it will not shift so I am prepared to try one of these drugs. But I torn as to which to go for, reductil will suppress any craving and cut portions and give me more energy but possibly once off it I will go right back. Orlistat however comes with those dreaded side affects of oily stools and wind etc if not careful.

Has any one any experiences of either they would like to share?

Thanks so much for any helpful advice,

happy....Orlistat..........side effects mainly gastro-intestinal.
Reductil mainly sleep problems.

Your choice happy.
I tried every diet without much success until my GP worked with me to lose some 15 stones over this past year.
He reminds me over and over again to lose weight I must count calories

In order to lose weight, fewer calories must be consumed than expended:

Woman and inactive men generally need to consume approximately 2,000 calories to maintain there current weight.

While very active men and active women need to consume approximately 2,500 calories to maintain there current weight.

In order for me to lose weight I Count Calories, I keep track of all the food I consume each day so I consume less than 1800 calories per day..

My GP also prescribed Reductil, a very strong appetite suppressant. I just take one Reductil diet pill
in the early afternoon and I am not hungry nor do I crave my favorite food - chocolate for the entire afternnon.

You have to count calories I tried all kinds of diet in the past but they did not work. Think about it if you
eat more calories than you use these calories are going to be stored as fat and you are going to gain weight.

I you want more information on counting calories and weight loss just visit the website my GP gave me:
