I am getting married next month to the love of my life, in 39 days to be exact. My mum died 11 years ago this year and she will be sadly missed from the celebrations.

Last week my dad went for a colonoscopy and a mass was found. He has scans on wednesday and I am worried. Yesterday he hinted that depending on what it is and what else they find he may not be able to be at my wedding because of treatment.

My Uncle is recovering from a stroke and my aunt has just been told her breast cancer has come back.

My better half's brother has uninvited himself and said that he will go to his brothers next wedding ... and continues to make our lives uncomfortable in any way he can reasonably get away with.

I don't want to cancel the wedding, but I so hope my dad is with me to share the day.

Hmmmm, head is spinning, stomach is churning, eyes are welling up - again!

Hiya, Arh poor you, organising a wedding is stressfull enough isnt it. I hope your dad is ok & i am sure he will be there on your big day, is he giving you away? As for your future brother in law, just leave him too it, he doesnt sound worth it. Sending hugs to you.
weddings are stressful in themselves let alone with the added pressure your feeling, i really feel for you. Im sure your dad will be there if he can to give you away and im sure that if the hospital knew the situation they may be able to work around it. good luck for your big day xxx

Thank you both for your kind words which are very much appreciated today. I will wait and see what the hospital have to say and hope that the treatment will still allow him to come.

One thing happened today to make me laugh, my husband to be has just been told he is suffering from groin strain! I shall do my best to make sure he is recovered from that in time!
Hi HJT
I know that weddings can be stressful as our son gets married in less than three weeks!
Just to reassure you (I hope) one of my Yoga students was diagnosed with bowel cancer not long before her daughter was married. The hospital 'worked round' the wedding day and she is now recovering brilliantly from the op. with a good prognosis.
Good luck to you both

Thank you for thinking of me, what a lovely thing to do. LFCFan5 (good team if I say so myself!)

He is back from the scans, but won't find out anything until Friday when he goes to the Doctors. I guess it's best to find out what they are going to do at the same time as getting the results. I am trying to optimistic about the treatment he may need.

xx
Hi

I will keep my fingers crossed for you both, let me know wont you when you can.

Take care xx
Will be thinking about you and your Dad tomorrow, and hoping you get some positive news. Good luck with the wedding.

Well I have spoken to my Dad who says the Doctor told him that he is a lucky boy and it is to do with polyps! He still has to wait for the scan results next week, but the Dr doesn't seem to think that there should be any problems.

Tears have been rolling down my face and I feel so dizzy, if I didn't love him so much I would give him a proper telling off for worrying me.

A whole weight has been lifted and I can now look forward to getting married with my dad being there.

I realise I am the lucky one and how different if coud have been. Thank you so much for caring even though you don't really know me.

Have a wonderful weekend, you really have made a difference,

Hazel

Sorry, bad news. Just had a phone call from my Dad to say that he has been told that despite what he had previously been told he has cancer of the bowel.
Arh, im sorry to hear that hun. What treatment are they going to give him? I knew someone who had cancer of the bowel, he had an op, had a colostomy bag for a bit & is on the road to recovery. Keep positive. xx

Thanks LFC.

I am going to see the consultant with him on Friday. Looks like we will have to cancel our honeymoon as he was due to look after my 14 year old whilst we went away. Still it's better to know that he is ok.

I think they are going for the same sort of treatment, removal and then a bag, I suppose it just depends how soon they do it.
Hiya

Dont worry about your honeymoon, that will come hun. Will keep my fingers crossed for you all.

Keep in touch xx

Hi,

Went to see the consultant with my dad last week. He has two swollen lymph nodes and will be having 5 days radiotherapy prior to having the cancer removed on the 29th July. So this means that he will be having the radiotherapy on the morning of the wedding - the nurse is going to fit him in nice and early so that he can still come to the wedding.

He has told us to still go away and, with a bit of juggling with child and animals, we are going. With a little bit of trepidation being so far away whilst the operation is happening.

Two weeks to go and I am finally starting to look forward to the day. I pick my dress up on saturday and we are all going racing tomorrow as a joint stag/hen party.

Fingers crossed all goes as it is meant to from here on in!
