In the pub last night, I was excitedly telling the assembled masses that this is now out on DVD (along with Noggin the Nog)....only to be met by a lot of blank stares!!

Prompts from me of "touchwood" and "telling-bone" were met with qizzical smiles and an enquiry as to precisely how much booze I'd consumed.

Someone reassure me I wasn't the ony person watching the show....

I loved Catweazle, didn't he live in an old water-tower?

Thank goodness - it wasn't a dream!......or the beginning of senile dementia.

I can now purchase said DVD and add it to my stock of 'childhood revisited' where it will keep good company with Bagpuss and The Clangers.

If only I could find Noah & Nelly on DVD I would be in 7th Heaven......

oh my god... cat weazle used to give me nightmares and my sister too. We still had to watch it even though he scared us. We did have vivid imaginations though!! he he

ipek, you are not alone, I too love Catweazle, and couldn't wait for it to come out on DVD ( I had held off buying the video tapes as they came down in price at the time DVD sales were taking off  ).

It is like many things, if your friend's saw a photo or clip from the show, or heard the theme tune, they would probably remember.

Yep I remember it, what about "electrickery"!
Didn't Catweazle fall into a river or something but when he came out he was hundreds of years into the future?
Yes Catweazle, this used to scare me too rachaelersk but I also had to keep watching it...  Looking back, it was a great show!
I watched Catweazle as a very small child and cried buckets when he disappeared off in his balloon.  In fact I apparently wailed so much that my mother promised to call the television production company to ask them to bring him back for another series.  For many years I believed that she had done this - but alas, she was just trying to pacify me.  I should have guessed as back in 1970 we didn't have a telephone and I can't really imagine her standing in a telephone box making the call!  Despite my tender age, I remember finding it a very touching programme.
I used to LOVE Catweazle, no one else I speak to seems to remember him, I'd love to get hold of this on DVD if anyone knows where I may get it, my kids would love it too I'm sure!
