In the UK How is the 2 year separation calculated in a divorce case?

My friend wants his divorce ordeal over as soon as possible. How is the 2 year separation counted? His wife is living in a flat of his and will will want to draw proceedings out as long as possible.The only dependant in the family is his disabled brother.

It's divorce after 2 years if both sides agree......if one disagrees, as seems likely from your post, it's 5 years.....
Unless he divorces her due to irretrievable breakdown of marriage, then it matters not a jot whether she consents or not.
If he is living with another woman, this is proof that the marriage has irretrievably broken down. Otherwise he will have to find some other explanation, shouldn't be hard to do.
