sued for rent?

can my son be sued for rent if he has never had a moving date,keys, chance to move in?

I don't see how he could be classed as a tenant if the landlord never gave him the keys to the property,even if he had signed a contract.

I do hope you are right. the landlord is threatening all kinds of legal action and yet my son and his two friends were not able to move in.
I would get your son and his friends to seek advice from the citizens advice centre ASAP,tell them to take any documents/contracts with them when they go and to make sure they tell the adviser everything relevant to the case.
Why were they never given keys to the property?

previous tenants did not move out
tell him to sod off, see you in court and be prepared to be laughed at. call his bluff and stop worrying. if your son never had keys and the previous tenants are still in there, the landlord is in breach of the tenancy, not your son. don't be bullied! x
