OK, so the NHS will be cripplingly short of money in a few years.

Let's look where we can save some.

I'll start.

No boob jobs on the NHS

No gastric bands funded by us

No IVF treatment on the NHS.

I agree. And I think that when NHS resources are so stretched, anyone who can afford to pay privately should do so, and not use resources that are needed by the less well-off.

Absolutely jj........I don't mind paying for private health care...though I think my dentist is taking the p!ss..I also didn't mind paying for my daughter's private education but seem to be pilloried for this....
No, poodi ...

I've never smoked a cigarette.

Why ?
Evening all.

I agree with two of PB's suggestions. Having boobs that are not to your liking is not life-threatening. Neither is not being able to have kids.

It'd be different is there was enough money in the pot for all - but there clearly isn't.

I'm paying for my godchild's private education (I don't have children). I see it as a simple choice of how to use one's own money.

Some people spend it on a big house, or foreign holidays.

Some people have expensive hobbies.

Some people spend it on education.

But Mrs C ...

What about NHS dentistry?

Having crap teeth is no more life threatening than having crap t!ts.
Sorry Jayne, don't know where you're coming from - enlighten me please lass.
People like to get their teeth looked after because they feel better about themselves if they are happy with their teeth.

... and they like to have access to an NHS dentist.

Isn't it the same with breasts?
Well personally I don't think it is, Jayne.

Having dentistry on our teeth is important for our health (obviously).

Having tits that look nice (which is of course, down to one's own preference - if that's the right word) is not vital for keeping healthy, is it?

I could be wrong but I don't think you can have cosmetic work done on your teeth on the NHS .... Or if you can, it is only partially funded - my hubby was given a quote (NHS) for having a false tooth fitted and he nearly fainted at the cost.
But I don't think you can get a boob job on the NHS unless your current ... erm ...

"shape"?

... is causing you medical distress.

(or back ache??)
If that is the case Jayne (needing a breast reduction because you are in pain) then fair enough, I agree the problem should be sorted, as that is a medical problem.

I thought we were talking about having them enlarged because the owner(?) felt conscious that they were too small. In that case, I think you should have to pay (well, not you personally lass - you know what I mean).

[:o)
well mrs.c.......mine are quite perky...but private..
LOL ....

No, not me personally. I don't approve of cosmetic surgery.

Having said which ...

... if a friend of mine desparately wanted an op, and didn't have the money, then I would pay for it (although I would tell her that I disapproved).
Good evening Joggerjayne!! Now about paying for the cosmetic surgery......how is it we become friends....lol

What a great friend you must be.....I wish my friends were so generous.....lol
Well craft, I could tie mine in a bow and throw 'em over my shoulder .... kinda like a scarf. But what the heck, at least they'd keep me neck warm.

[:o)
Hi sparkler ... x

I'm not married.

I don't have children or a family.

I pay my godchild's school fees. That is my only major outgoing (except for my own drinking and gambling, LOL).

Not everybody is so lucky.
My last post came across badly.

I don't mean that not having children is lucky.

I mean ... I realise that I am very lucky to not have many financial commitments.
lol jj! I've got just the one and having no more is bl00dy lucky for me lol
Well, I'm 42, so I'm not going to start having them now.

So, if I had a friend who needed money ...

... well, you know.
